The San Jose International Short Film Festival began as a collaboration between two Silicon Valley businessmen, both avid movie fans and patrons of the arts. Looking for ways to connect brilliant short form filmmaking to appreciative audiences here in San Jose, they organically grew the festival from a single screening to the four day event it is today.

Watch This Year’s Festival on Your TV At Home!

By | Uncategorized

The San Jose International Short Film Festival is powered by Qudio:

Once you purchase your pass or individual ticket to one of our blocks of films, we want you to have the best viewing experience and thought we could offer a few tips to help out.

First off, we recommend using the most up to date versions of Chrome or Firefox Browsers on your computer, tablet or smart phone.

Please keep in mind that one you have your ticket, pass or redemption code (if you’ve been given one by the festival)  you’ll need to wait until the screening begins to start the show – we will be running a 15 min countdown prior to each event so you know when things will start.

If you haven’t shared this experience with friends or family, we will be live across the US so be sure to let everyone know that festival pass/tickets are still available here: www.sjsff.com.

Can we watch on our TV at home?

– Absolutely and here are are a couple ways to consider when viewing on a TV:

  • From a laptop or computer that has an HDMI port, just connect your computer to your TV via a HDMI cable and you are all set.  Same thing goes if you have an adapter from your tablet or phone that offers HDMI access, that is one of the most convenient options.
  • Now if you have a SmartTV you can use the internet browser and just enter in the URL link  – that will give you access to the programming we will have during the festival.
  • If you have a Chromecast or Airplay device or if your television supports “Mirroring” or “Casting” you can use this feature as well (think Apple Air Play, Google ChromeCast, etc).

Check out this step-by-step guide on how to use AirPlay: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204289

What if all I have is a Roku device?

  • Well for Mac users there is an Apple app that allows the ability to cast to your Roku. It works from most IOS devices, just search for and download iWebTV.

Install the app on phone, then turn on your Roku and search for the app on Roku (iWebTV) and add it to your home screen. Open the app on your tv and your phone. The two will guide through a quick set up to connect them.

To watch the event, simply put the screening link into the browser section of iWebTV (on your phone) and then click go. It will pop up and ask where you want to view it.. be sure to choose the name you gave on the tv set up and it will then cast beautifully.

If you don’t have an Apple device you can reference some of the apps in this article:

How can we share this with friends and family?

You can host a WATCH PARTY.

Whether you live alone or with others you can roll out the red carpet and host a watch party from the comfort of your own home.

Live with housemates or family?  Get your ticket from Qudio and the SJSFF and gather your housemates for a glitzy Hollywood themed party or pop some popcorn, watch some films and discuss.

Want to invite friends to watch while socially distancing?  A zoom party is perfect for you!

Invite friends to join a zoom call that you set up, make sure that everyone has a ticket and once everyone is on the call with the block cued up, hit play at the same time and enjoy some films. During each program you can use the CHAT room that will be open during each program or chat via Zoom.

However you choose to watch make sure that for any gathering you have you follow rules and regulations for your area!  Oh, and also take plenty of pictures and send them to contact@sjsff.com with the subject “Watch Party” or post them to social media using the hashtag: #SJISFF
