James Gunn
In recognition of his contributions to both independent and blockbuster films, renowned filmmaker James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy, The Belko Experiment, Slither) received “The Visionary Award” and was on hand to discuss his career with an excited Sold Out audience. The honor recognized Gunn's unwavering integrity throughout his work in independent and blockbuster features, his ability to navigate the divide between massive-budget studio epics and smaller independent films is no small feat, but it is one that Gunn manages to accomplish without ever jeopardizing the integrity of his films.

Jennifer Morrison
The SJSFF was thrilled to screen her first short film ‘Warning Labels’ during a special Meet The Filmmaker event at the 7th Annual San Jose International short Film Festival (SJIsFF). Following the screening, she discussed her filmmaking process with the audience. Ms. Morrison was also the recipient of the festival’s Excellence in Directing award.
‘Warning Labels,’ written and directed by Ms. Morrison, tells the story of a world where everyone wears their personalities on their shirts (literally) and there isn't much left up for debate when meeting someone new. When two workers for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention meet for drinks, they discover that love is the most hazardous thing of all. The 14 minute film features Josh Lawson, Karen Gillan, Rose McIver and Eric Christian Olsen and was produced by Andrew Carlberg and A.J. Kelly.
Ms. Morrison is known for her roles as Emma Swan in the ABC adventure fantasy series Once Upon a Time and as Dr. Allison Cameron in House M.D. She also portrayed Zoey Pierson, one of Ted Mosby's love interests on How I Met Your Mother.
